Try Something Different
New, bite-sized projects to spice up your hobby
Assembling armies of toy soldiers is a labor of love, but at some point painting the same thing over and over tests that love. Maybe you sighed while painting your sixtieth Space Marine or 39th rank of French infantry, rifles at the shoulder arms, and began to question what this was all about. Suddenly, a trumpet blast booms through the mountains! The Victor’s Spoils is riding to your rescue with new, cool stuff to try!
Hairfoot Jousting Box Sets
My first suggestion is to try Hairfoot Jousting, a fun and frolicking jousting game between rival Halflings and Goblins, brought to you by the guy who also gave you Oathmark, Frostgrave, and Stargrave! I have two different box sets, each containing six knights riding unorthodox steeds appropriate to their milieu.
First, the halflings:
Then, the gobbos:
Of course, these fun little 28mm cavaliers would also suit many a tabletop RPG campaign or a custom mounted force for your preferred fantasy wargame.
And speaking of goblins with unusual mounts, don’t forget we have a promotion going on with the Wargames Altantic Goblin/Giant Spider deal!
Retro Raygun
There’s nothing like the flashiness of chrome-plate and spandex space suits to cleanse the palate after months of painting grimdark cannon fodder. We still have a small number of Hydra Miniatures pulp sci-fi 28mm figures in stock (more on the way this summer!), like this amazing tripod:
Unusual *grave Warbands
Painting up an 8-10 man crew for Frostgrave or Stargrave is a great vacation from mass armies. Lucky for you, we got a very large restock from North Star Military Figures that features all of their plastic box sets for these games.
They don’t all have to be human warriors, either. Why, you can add Gnolls or Snakemen to your company!
If your tastes are more towards the sci-fi or post-apocalyptic, there are plenty of options there, too, such as these Stargrave Mercenaries that you can use to make human or aliens like space badgers and space chimps, or the Scavengers that come with parts to make mutants and zombies.
There’s plenty more that might pique your interest, so head on over to The Victor’s Spoils webshop and treat yourself to some more minis or hobby supplies for Memorial Day. As always, I’d love to see what you make!

Get a bunch of North Star boxes, and you'll never be bored!
Kitbashing is like playing with LEGO. :)
